What are Year Representatives?
The system of Year Representatives works particularly well at our school. Any Sacred Heart parent can volunteer to be a Year Rep for their child's year. The role of a Year Rep is evolving to focus more on ‘pastoral care’ ie. connecting parents, buddying new families, encouraging parents’ to support in classroom and school activities, and coordinating social events that bring families together. Year representatives liaise with teachers and encourage all parents in the year group to become involved in planning and running events throughout the year.
enrolment
We take great pleasure in welcoming new families into our school community.
Who Can Enrol?
Sydney Catholic Schools are open to all Catholic families, as well as families from Orthodox churches, families from other Christian Churches, and those from other faith traditions or non-religious backgrounds who are prepared to support the ethos, values and liturgical and sacramental practices of the Catholic Church.
When Can We Enrol?
You can apply to enrol your child in a Sydney Catholic School at any time although the formal enrolment period commences in March. Primary school students must commence school before they turn six years of age, and applications are accepted in the year prior to commencement. Secondary colleges within Sydney Catholic Schools accept applications two years prior to commencement.
What is the Enrolment Process?
Before an enrolment is finalised, parents/carers are usually interviewed by the principal or a delegated staff member. Documents required prior to interview include the completed enrolment form, birth certificate, baptismal certificate, immunisation statement, any relevant medical records or health assessments, and passports/visa documentation if you are newly arrived in Australia. We also require academic results or reports from the student’s previous school if students move to the school in Years 1-6.
The processes and decision of enrolment are determined by the individual school based on the context of the parish and school community and in accordance with Sydney Catholic Schools’ Enrolment Policy.
Sydney Catholic Schools new online enrolment form makes applying to our 150 primary and secondary schools simpler, faster and more convenient than ever. There are three simple steps: A) Register your child B) Create your child's profile and C) Create an application.
