What are Year Representatives?
The system of Year Representatives works particularly well at our school. Any Sacred Heart parent can volunteer to be a Year Rep for their child's year. The role of a Year Rep is evolving to focus more on ‘pastoral care’ ie. connecting parents, buddying new families, encouraging parents’ to support in classroom and school activities, and coordinating social events that bring families together. Year representatives liaise with teachers and encourage all parents in the year group to become involved in planning and running events throughout the year.
Book week
Where Book Week originated from
Each year since 1945, the Children's Book Council of Australia has brought children and books together across Australia through the Children's Book Council of Australia Book Week. Scared Heart celebrates books and Australian children's authors and illustrators during Book Week. Mrs Jago and Mrs Spano create colourful displays, develop activities, run competitions and tell stories relating to a theme to highlight the importance of reading. Each year we have a book character parade and a book sale to celebrate Book Week.
Sacred Heart's 2020 Book Week
In 2020, the Book Character Parade saw many creative outfits, celebrating the "Curious minds, curious creatures" theme. Thank you to Mrs Jago and Mrs Spano for their work in organising our parade and Book Fair and for their enthusiasm and encouragement of our student’s love of reading.
